Biography
Dr. Mohit Sharma currently working as Professor at the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Amrita Hospital,Faridabad Sector 88, Haryana 121002. He is having +28 years of experience in field. Dr. Mohit started first Vascularised composite allotransplantation (VCA)programme in India in the year 2015. He Performaed first Sucesseful hand Transplant in the world. He has done clinical fellowships in Burns and Hand surgery from St Andrew’s center for plastic surgery , which is the largest burns unit and one of the biggest reconstructive surgery units in the UK. He has observed and trained extensively with various leaders in the field of reconstructive plastic surgery. A patient from Karnataka and another from Iraq, who lost both their hands due to electric shock, have successfully undergone bilateral hand transplants.The recipient is a 30-year-old ex-Army captain from Kandahar, Afghanistan. He lost both his hands during demining operations in Kandahar three years ago. This is perhaps the first case of twin-hand transplant on any citizen in Afghanistan.
